Are you concerned like Peter, about what you will gain having left all to follow Jesus? For your information, your labour is not in vain in the Lord. The Lord has promised to reward you now, with a hundredfold of whatever you have given up to serve Him, and to give you eternal life in the world to come. All you need to inherit these promised blessings is to be faithful and committed as you serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are many Christians whose hope are not beyond this life, for they serve not the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly. Such people whose hope in Christ ends here on earth should be pitied, because they are of all men most miserable. Their suffering in hell will be worse than those who did not believe in Christ, namely Atheists, Moslems, Buddhists, etc. Irrespective of what they are doing for the Lord, they are wasting their time.

There are two highways: the broad and narrow way, each having specific destination. Travelling by the wrong highway will definitely take you to the wrong destination. For example the highway that goes from Bethel to Shechem will not lead travellers to Jerusalem - Judges 21:19. It is the narrow way or The highway of holiness that leads pilgrims to the dwelling place of the holy God - 1 Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14.

The Scripture declares that it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, you call God a liar whenever you think or say that it is not possible for a man to be perfect. As Abram was commanded by the Almighty God to be perfect so also has the Lord commanded all his children in every generation to be perfect. The standard of the Lord has never been and will never be altered or lowered for any man.

Shortly after the last supper, before going to mount Olives, Jesus revealed to his disciples that they would all forsake Him that night. Despite Peter's response in verses 33 and 35 of Matthew chapter 26, he both forsook and denied the Lord, in the end. False prophets, teachers and apostles are walking about like wolves in sheep's clothing seeking whom they may deceive. Brethren, you must watch and pray so that the day of the Lord does not come upon you unprepared.
