As it was with the salvation of Lot and his household, the Lord expects every saved person to escape for their life to the mountain top of safety. Although they were saved from the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, God warned them of the danger of being consumed if they looked back or remained in the plain. Failing to heed the warning of the Lord, Lot's wife looked back and was consumed: she turned into a pillar of salt.

Beloved, the latter part of our key text says God has created all things including you, for his pleasure. What does it mean to please God? It simply means to believe him, giving him first place in everything that you do in life. This can only be achieved by believers who sincerely seek God to know him. When we truly know God, the Holy Spirit will help us to please him in all things.

After you have been saved by grace through faith, you must continually prepare for the coming of the Lord, otherwise you cannot make it to heaven. The five foolish virgins did not realise that they did not have enough oil until their lamps went out while waiting for the bridegroom. They were not checking continually to see if they needed to top up. Watch and pray without ceasing as you prepare for the sudden return of the Lord.

Living for Jesus means living the life that fulfils the purpose for which He came and died for. Jesus said, I am the light of the world; and in another verse of Scripture, He said that believers are the light of the world. He has promised that His followers shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. And it is having the light of life in us that lightens up our world - John 8:12; John 5:14.

Sin deceives; therefore, it is needful to remind ourselves daily about the warnings in the Scriptures and remain watchful. We cannot afford to be careless with our Christian life because many in the past and in contemporary times have been and are being deceived out of the straight narrow way. Be not deceived: the consequence of sin is death and whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. A little sin has the power to damn your soul in hell.
