Many believed in Berea because they searched the Scriptures daily to confirm what they heard from gospel preachers. Understanding the Scriptures brings about salvation, growth and establishment in the faith. It is the Word of God in the heart that makes solid, stable and consistent believers. The knowledge of God's word brings freedom from deception.

Jesus rebuked two of his disciples who sought for His permission to call down fire from heaven upon a Samaritan village that did not receive him. He told James and John that they did not know the kind of spirit they had and reminded them that he did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them. Although his disciples, they were quite unlike Christ, looking unto Elijah instead of the author and finisher of their faith.

To be like your heavenly Father, the Lord commands you to love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you. Remember that man was originally created in the image of God. Unfortunately, the power to overcome evil with good and all the virtues of godliness were lost as a result of the fall of man.

STOP COVERING YOUR SINS

Every confessed sin is judged and covered by the Lord so that the devil finds nothing to accuse you of before God. Unfortunately many believers because of ignorance try in vain to cover their sins. It is better to expose your sins on earth before death, otherwise they will follow you to accuse you before God after you have passed on to the other side of eternity where no defendant will ever be acquitted.

DON'T GIVE UP TOO SOON

Mary Magdalene was the first to discover the empty tomb and she promptly informed Peter and John that the Lord had been taken out of the tomb. When these two disciples ran to the tomb and confirmed that the Lord was not there, they returned to their own home. But Mary stayed back at the tomb weeping, until she eventually saw two angels in the tomb and Jesus standing behind her. Mary's persistence paid off in the end.
