When God saved Israel from Egyptian bondage and captivity, He hedged them in with a cover of protection. However, every time they rejected God and worshipped strange gods, the hedge was broken and their enemies pursued and overpowered them. But whenever they repented and returned to the Lord, he always delivered them. That was a dangerous pattern which no believer should ever imitate. You should never take the grace of God for granted.

Joseph, in Potiphar's house, refused to commit immorality with his master's wife. Daniel, in Babylon did not defile himself with the portion of the king's food and drink. Since most deaths happen suddenly and in a moment, be sure that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise - Ephesians 5:15. It is only a few people, like one of the thieves on the cross that may have an opportunity to make their ways right with God, just before death. The majority of people die either accidentally or in their sleep, taken away without any warning.

God's irrevocable judgment comes to every soul immediately after death. The ruling or verdict of that judgment will either be eternal life in heaven or eternal damnation in hell, depending on how the soul concerned lived on earth. Consider the following statement made by the Lord Jesus Christ - "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, ..." - Luke 16:22-23.

The Lord wants us to make the right choices in life. He commands us to prove all things and to test the spirits by His Word. The written word of God is given to guide us in the way we should go. Therefore, we should no more be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive – Ephesians 4:14.
