Saved To Serve God

When God liberates a man from the bondage of sin and Satan, He does so for the man to serve Him in that liberty. We must be careful not to misuse the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, that we may not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage. We are liberated to serve one another in love: not at liberty to serve our flesh by doing whatever we please, not minding the effect it will have on other people. It is our responsibility to watch what we do, wear, eat, drink, and where we go.

The Lord Knows Better

Although Peter recognised the speaker as Lord and Master, yet his response is contradictory. By answering, 'not so, Lord', Peter appears to be saying that he knows better than the Lord. But a slave should obey his Lord without question. Or shouldn't a servant carry out his Master's command without argument? Whatever appears to be the foolishness of God is wiser than men: Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men - 1 Corinthians 1:25.

Worldly wisdom teaches man to labour in order to be rich but God counsels us to cease from this kind of wisdom which does not generate true riches. The Bible declares, "And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Greatness, riches and wealth do not come as a result of much labour: for by strength shall no man prevail. The Lord is looking for labourers in the field of souls.

The primary reason why many believers are not cheerful is because of doubt and unbelief. What a contradiction! By manifesting an attitude of unbelief, we are inadvertently calling God a liar. But God cannot lie; His words must surely come to pass, therefore let us rejoice and be glad in Him always. Beloved, be fully persuaded that, what the Lord has promised, He is also able to perform.

The word of God declares that Abraham was fully persuaded that, what God had promised, He was able also to perform it. Although the promised Isaac did not come until after twenty-five years of waiting, Abraham overcame the temptation to stagger at the promise of God. He was strong in faith. He trusted the faithfulness of God who cannot lie but does whatever He promises.
