At the throne of grace, we enjoy a double portion: God's forgiving mercy and His pardoning grace. Whereas His grace has appeared to all men for personal appropriation, God's mercy is there for the asking. The Lord is always there to answer anyone that will dare to call upon Him in the time of trouble. He is a very present help in trouble - Psalm 46:1. There's always abundant pardon awaiting the penitent sinner.

From the book of the generations of Adam recorded in Genesis chapter five, men simply lived long, had children, and died. They made no significant achievement during their long years of existence. Although the average life span of man in those days was over nine hundred years, Enoch lived for only three hundred and sixty-five years. His life was rather short but purposeful and significant. Unlike those that lived before him, he walked with God and made heaven at last.

Hannah was a sorrowful woman for a long time, and she complained about her unpleasant situation of barrenness. She was provoked by her adversary to make her worry and weep over her condition. Until she prevailed in the place of in prayer, she remained a sorrowful woman. When she prayed earnestly, the Lord changed her complaint to acclaim. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

The principle of sowing and reaping is emphasised in various passages of the Scripture. The Lord expects us to forgive those that trespass against us so that He will also forgive us when we sin against Him. But if we choose to harden our hearts and refuse to forgive our offenders, the Lord likewise will not forgive us when we plead for mercy because of our sins. Do not forget that you will always need God's forgiveness - 1 Kings 8:46.

Because of the sin of Adam, every man born into the world has inherited sin, apart from Jesus - the seed of the woman. And no one can cleanse himself from sin or help another man. Only Jesus can transform a sinner into a saint by cleansing them with His precious blood which was shed at Calvary for the remission of sins. Jesus stands at the door of your heart, knocking, that you may let Him in.
