It is better to trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man or princes. If you have God on your side, who can be against you? The Lord your God will defend and shield you from the arrows of the wicked. Put your confidence in the Lord, for He will never leave you nor forsake you. You attract a curse from the Lord when you place your trust in man: "... Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord" - Jeremiah 17:5.

God is omnipotent - He is all-powerful. With God all things are possible and without Him we cannot do anything. There is nothing too hard for Him to do - He saves sinners, heals the sick, delivers the oppressed, raises the dead and sets the captives free. Whatever maybe your situation, you can trust Him for the solution. Take your eyes away from men because they cannot help you.

Besides, the armour of Saul could not deliver him, so why should David or any one trust in them.

King Ahab with the help of his wife Jezebel had killed Naboth that he may take possession of Naboth's vineyard. Because of this evil the Lord sent Prophet Elijah to Ahab, to pronounce judgment against his house. On hearing the message of the Lord as declared by the man of God, Ahab responded with humility which attracted the mercy of God. The penalty of Ahab's sin was delayed because of his humility.

The man in our key text was in the same unpleasant situation for thirty-eight long years. He believed that one day someone would be kind enough to help get him into the healing waters at the right time. However, when Jesus came by and asked if he would like to be healed, he failed to see that the Doctor of doctors had come to his help. His trust was not in God but in man.
