As believers, we are called to walk the way of the cross every day. Even Christ suffered for us denying himself, and leaving us an example, that we should follow his steps. Jesus, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously. He also bore his cross to Golgotha, the place of his crucifixion - John 19:17.

The exhortation to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints was given because of the prevalence of false apostles in the early church. These false apostles or deceitful workers are also in the church today, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. They preach another Jesus, proclaim another gospel and operate by another spirit.

Children of God are called to walk circumspectly to escape the traps of the wicked one. Judas was one of the twelve disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, who was put in charge of the treasury. Obviously, he was saved. Sent with the other disciples, Judas went to preach the gospel to sinners. He dined and travelled every where with Jesus, so one wonders how Satan was able to enter into him.

The grace of God is unmerited or undeserved favour from God to man. This grace majorly does two things. Firstly, it brings salvation to sinners, translating them from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Then secondly, it teaches believers how to overcome sinful tendencies and to live the life that is acceptable in the kingdom of God. The grace of God is not licentiousness.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. You can only judge the quality of something by tasting, trying or using it. The goodness of God can be experienced by all who come to put their trust in Him. In this verse of Scripture, David declares: "blessed is the man that trusts in him (the Lord)" and challenges us to confirm the veracity of his declaration by ourselves.
