The Lord was watching to see how the children of Israel would react to the temptations that befell them during their wilderness journey. He wanted to know if they truly loved Him. Almost all of them yielded to the temptations and therefore were not approved by the Lord to enter the promised land. Those that were disapproved, all died in the wilderness.

The Scripture declares that it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, you call God a liar whenever you think or say that it is not possible for a man to be perfect. As Abram was commanded by the Almighty God to be perfect so also has the Lord commanded all his children in every generation to be perfect. The standard of the Lord has never been and will never be altered or lowered for any man. 

Beloved, are you in any trouble and worried about how things will turn out? Worry no more because you shall come out of that trouble, in the name of Jesus. And when you come out, it will be as though you were never in such trouble. Do you remember the three Hebrew children, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? They all came out of the fire of King Nebuchadnezzar without being burnt. 

King Ahab with the help of his wife Jezebel had killed Naboth that he may take possession of Naboth's vineyard. Because of this evil the Lord sent Prophet Elijah to Ahab, to pronounce judgment against his house. On hearing the message of the Lord as declared by the man of God, Ahab responded with humility which attracted the mercy of God. The penalty of Ahab's sin was delayed because of his humility.

Wisdom is the judicious application of knowledge. The knowledge of the holy scriptures teaches us to fear God and depart from sin. And the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. From the word of God, we know that God is angry with the wicked every day, and godly wisdom instructs us to abstain from all appearance of evil that we may obtain His favour.
