PROVING ALL THINGS

The Lord wants us to make the right choices in life. He commands us to prove all things and to test the spirits by His Word. The written word of God is given to guide us in the way we should go. Therefore, we should no more be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive – Ephesians 4:14.

The works of the flesh will manifest wherever the flesh is in control. As you live in this body of clay, you will be always tempted to indulge in the works or deeds of the flesh. Even Jesus was tempted by the devil, but glory be to God; He overcame. To overcome like Jesus, you must yield your body to Him with the strong determination to always obey God rather than men.

MISPLACED PRIORITIES

The Bible warns us against covetousness but admonishes us to earnestly covet the best spiritual gifts. The value of the soul of a man is not measured by the abundance of his material possessions. What shall it profit you if your pocket is full and your heart is empty? Everyone who labours to enrich himself with the material things of this life at the expense of his impoverished soul can best be described as a fool.

YIELDING TO THE LORD

Although Peter recognised the speaker as Lord and Master, yet his response was contradictory. By saying, 'not so, Lord', Peter appears to be saying that he knows better than the Lord. But a slave should obey his Lord without question. Or shouldn't a servant carry out his Master's command without argument? Whatever appears to be the foolishness of God is wiser than men.

PASSION FOR SOUL-WINNING

How do you see the souls of men? There will be no passion for evangelism until you are able to see men as men and not as trees. A second touch from the Lord is needed to enable you see men through the eyes of Christ. When Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion and He raised a prayer request for more labourers to be sent to the field for the harvest of souls.
