HUSBAND-WIFE RELATIONSHIP

Sep 19 2019

Key Text: Colossians 3:18 KJV - Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

The relationship between a husband and wife is one of the sacred relationships. As a two-way relationship both the husband and the wife are expected to work together to achieve the shared aim of successful relationship. The husband and the wife both have to make an effort to obey the charge of the Lord for their relationship to work, because God is the author of marriage.

To wives, the command is: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. "As it is fit in the Lord" means that the submission of the wife to her husband should be in line with the word of God. The wife should never exalt her husband above God in the name of submission, respect or obedience.

God's charge to husbands says: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Husbands love your wives and be not bitter against them. The husband is required to love his wife unconditionally and dwell with her according to knowledge to keep the relationship and enjoy answer to prayers. Remember, marriage is between a man and a woman.

Prayer: My heavenly father, I pray that you heal every broken husband-wife relationship in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it - Ephesians 5:25.
