THE BREVITY OF LIFE

Sep 10 2019

Key Text: Job 14:1 KJV - Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

Compared to eternity, long life on earth is very brief, so let us learn to number our days, that we may know how to live. It will not be long before your pilgrimage on earth comes to an end. Where is your great grandfather? If he's still around, then surely his father is no more. And one day it will be your turn to expire. This world is not your home; you are here on a journey that will eventually come to an end someday.

Therefore, as you use this world, please don't abuse it because you will give God an account of your time on earth, in the end. Do not get trapped by the transient fashion and facade of this world. Be not entangled with the affairs of this life but let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand: His coming is nearer that you think. Make use of the time available to you to glorify God.

A hundred years is not a long time compared to eternity, that is if you happen to live that long. Once again, be reminded that time is short and life at best is very brief. Surrender your life to Jesus today and live every day in constant expectation of His coming. Even if the coming of the Lord is delayed, death may come unexpectedly. I pray that the Lord will give you understanding.

Prayer: Father, help me to be mindful of how I spend the days of my pilgrimage on earth, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom - Psalm 90:12.
