AVOIDABLE DESTRUCTION

Apr 30 2019

Key Text: Proverbs 29:1 KJV - He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

We have a merciful and just God who always warns us to deliver us from impending danger. But because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. It is not the will of God for anyone to perish in their sin. He wants all men to come to repentance that they might have eternal life.

Remember what happened to Pharaoh and many others both in the past and in contemporary times, who hardened their hearts against the warnings of the Lord. God is not a respecter of persons: every hardened sinner will eventually experience sudden destruction. It shall not be well with the wicked and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Be serious about any warning from the Lord and turn at His reproofs promptly before it becomes too late. Things may seem to be fine with the stubborn-hearted for a while but God's judgment will surely come and that suddenly. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow maybe too late.

Prayer: O Lord, touch my heart and make it tender, that I may repent in response to your nodging, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: For when they shall say, peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape - 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
