Key Text: Jeremiah 45:5a KJV - And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not.
Are you striving for fame, position, wealth and riches, or other great things in life? The counsel of the Lord is: seek them not, but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto. If your goal in life is to acquire great things at the expense of your soul, you shall be of all men most miserable.
Labour not to be rich, neither labour for the meat which perisheth – Proverbs 23:4, John 6:27: because all the great things men go after in life will certainly perish with this world. Cease from your own wisdom. Your wisdom tells you to pursue things, but the wisdom of God commands you to seek after what Jesus gives which endures unto everlasting life. The things are temporary and will not always be there. Invest wisely to qualify for a place in heaven where you will have a better and enduring substance.
Precious people, if there is anything a man should seek for, it is the kingdom of God and His righteousness. You must do all you can to enter the kingdom of God and to abide there in righteousness. As additions, the Lord has promised that wealth and riches shall be in the house of the righteous. Go for what matters most - salvation for eternal life. Seek the Lord while He may be found because tomorrow might be too late.
Prayer: O Lord, help me to give first place to the things of God in my life, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you - Matthew 6:33.
