THE EFFECT OF LITTLE SIN

Mar 03 2019

Key Text: 1 Corinthians 5:6 KJV - Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Leaven or yeast makes dough rise. A little of it as compared to the quantity of flour, is required to transform a dense mass of dough into a well-risen loaf of bread. In like manner a little leaven of sin in the life of a single believer has the capacity to corrupt an entire congregation. Defilement of any kind should never be condoned in the Church of God. Beloved, the extent of the problem of little sin must never be underestimated. Little sin breeds big corruption.

The effect of a little sin can be very devastating. "Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity." - Joshua 22:20. Beloved, you are warned against having a close relationship with any so-called believer that is known to be living in sin - 1 Corinthians 5:11.

Precious people, sin, no matter how little, has a strong corrupting influence, and therefore must be avoided. Every heaven-bound believer must strive to lay aside all malice, and all guile, and all hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil-speaking, which hinder spiritual growth. Remember, that the Lord is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, no matter how little it may appear - Habakkuk 1:13.

Prayer: Father, give me grace to discover and purge myself from every little sin, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump - Galatians 5:9.
