The Genuine Christian

Sep 07 2017

Key Text: 1 John 3:18 KJV - My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

You can tell whether someone is a Christian or not by their life: a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Genuine Christians live and walk in the Spirit. They walk circumspectly, not allowing sin and the flesh to have dominion over them. They are true Christians that demonstrate an active life of charity toward others. Are you a true Christian?

The temptation to fulfil the lust of the flesh can only be overcome by following the leading of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. By your fruit, you shall be known. The genuine Christian walks in the Spirit that he may not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

You are either a Christian or an unbeliever. If any aspect of the fruit of the Spirit is missing in your life or you find yourself manifesting any of the works of the flesh, it is a sign that you need to revisit Calvary. Only Jesus can save you and give you the power to go and sin no more. Call upon Him today, if you have not known the Lord and He will forgive you and cleanse you from all your sin. The Lord is also willing and waiting to restore backsliders.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves - James 1:22.
