Speak Gracious Words

May 02 2017

Key Text: Colossians 4:6 KJV - Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

One of the reasons why we read, study and meditate on the word of God, is to arm ourselves for victory in the face of temptation. Every time Jesus was tempted either directly or indirectly by the devil, He overcame by speaking the written word. Learn to hide the Word of God in your heart, that you may have what to say in the hour of temptation. You must deliberately make out time to read and meditate on the word of God.

Whenever the Scribes or the Pharisees sent men to catch Jesus in His words they were bewildered by the answers He gave them. He always spoke gracious words, seasoned with salt. No corrupt communication ever proceeded out of His mouth but that which was good to the use of edifying, ministering grace to His hearers. Let's follow the example of the Master and it shall be well with us.

The Word of God hidden in your heart is meant to keep you from sin but you must speak them to overcome the tempter. Study and meditate on God's word; for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. The Lord has written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge that you may answer the words of truth to them that send unto you.

Prayer: O Lord, Teach me to answer every man according to your word, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips - Proverbs 22:18.
