Key Text: Romans 12:2 KJV - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Christians are called to be non-conformists. They are not permitted to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Others may tell white lies, jest, gossip, embezzle funds, bear false witness, but genuine Christians are expected to be different. They are not allowed to join the multitude to do anything that will not bring glory to the name of the Lord and His kingdom.
Non-conformists form the minority and do not use the broad way. They strive against sin to enter in through the narrow gate. They do not follow after the crowd to do evil. They are willing to stand alone for what they believe to be right, no matter the consequences. They hate what God hates and love what He loves.
Here's the song of a non-conformist: Though no one joins me, still I will follow. Though no one joins me, still I will follow. Though no one joins me, still I will follow. No turning back, No turning back. His statement of commitment should be: I have laid my hands on the plough, I cannot look back any more. He is not allowed to return to his own vomit or to go back and wallow in the mire from which he was washed.
Prayer: O Lord, help me, so that I will not be entangled with the affairs of this life, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him - 1 John 2:15.
