Key Text: Genesis 5:23 KJV - And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years.
From the book of the generations of Adam recorded in Genesis chapter 5, men simply lived long, had children and died. They made no significant achievement during their long years of existence. Although the average life span of man in those days was over nine hundred years, Enoch lived for only three hundred and sixty-five years. His life was rather short but purposeful and significant. Unlike those that lived before him, he walked with God and made heaven at last.
What will matter in eternity is not how long you lived on earth or how many children you had. Your relationship with God is what really matters. The ancestors of Enoch up to his parents did not walk with God but he did. At sixty-five he discovered that his life had no meaning, so he searched for God, found Him, and walked with the Lord for three hundred years (the rest of his life).
Even Jesus Christ, did not live long on earth but He fulfilled His ministry. We all have a ministry to fulfil. We are not just here to live, raise children and die without discovering our purpose for living. The earlier you discover your purpose for living, the better. Come out from the multitude of hopeless men, to Jesus Christ, the only Way to God. Man is born to walk with God on earth that he may gain a place with Him in heaven.
Prayer: O Lord, let sinners realise their folly, and help me to walk with you for the rest of my life, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose hi own soul? - Mark 8:36.
