Key Text: Job 1:22 KJV - In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
Job was a perfect and an upright man that feared God and eschewed evil. The devil was allowed to tempt him by taking away all his possessions, killing all his children and afflicting him with an incurable disease. In all, Job did not murmur against God but chose rather to worship Him. Because of the severity of his affliction, Job's wife advised him to curse God and die but he refused to sin with his lips.
Murmuring and complaining are grievous sins and must be avoided if we must remain in fellowship with God. Did you know that it was the sin of murmuring and complaining that hindered the wilderness journey of Israel for 40 years? Today, if you are given to a life of murmuring and complaining, your progress will also be hindered, which may eventually lead to your destruction.
Like Job, let us learn to worship God, even when things go wrong with us. The Lord commands; "In everything give thanks ..." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18a. When you murmur and complain, you are actually charging God foolishly, and by so doing inviting His judgment upon yourself. Be wise and endeavour to give thanks to God in every situation for that is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Prayer: O Lord, grant me the grace to thank you in all situations and at all times, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer - 1 Corinthians 10:10.
