Key Text: Mark 4:35 KJV - And the same day, and when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
Despite the great storm of wind that arose against the Lord and His disciples, they eventually crossed over to the other side of the sea. Although troubled by fear, the disciples realised that they were not alone, and cried unto the Lord for His intervention. Until the disciples prayed the Lord did not rebuke the wind. The Lord did not force Himself on His disciples to help them: they had to pray unto Him.
The Lord brought the children of Israel out of Egypt to bring them into the promised land of Canaan. And His presence with them was represented by the pillars of cloud and fire as they travelled in the wilderness. But the children of Israel provoked God to anger by murmuring and complaining instead of praying. Unlike the disciples crossing the sea with Jesus, the Israelites failed to acknowledge God in the time of their trouble and so many of them perished in the wilderness.
When faced with challenges, trials or temptations, remember that you are not alone in your Christian journey. You may not see or hear Him but Jesus is right there with you: for He has promised, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Nobody can get to heaven without the help of Jesus. But you must ask Him to help you every time the storms of life come against you. Call upon Him and He will surely see you through.
Prayer: O Lord, hold my hands as I travel along with you that I may land safely on heaven's shore, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers - Deuteronomy 6:23.
