Compassion For Souls

Feb 27 2017

Key Text: Matthew 9:36 KJV - But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

How do you see the souls of men? There will be no passion for evangelism until you are able to see men as men and not as trees. A second touch from the Lord is needed to enable you see men through the eyes of Christ. When Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion and He raised a prayer request for more labourers to be sent to the field for the harvest of souls.

Can't you see that multitudes around you are fainting, scattered abroad and in need of the Saviour? If already saved, you are expected to do something about reaching them with the gospel of salvation. However, until you can see men clearly, you cannot discharge your evangelistic duty effectively. Like Isaiah, having heard the voice of the Lord, you should answer "hear am I, send me".

We should ask the Lord for a second touch so that we can co-labour with the Lord to get souls saved. We need this grace to go to the lost, speak to them and pray over them. Duty demands it, and Jesus commands it! Let us endeavour to do something today for the dying and perishing souls of men around us.

Prayer: O God, give me compassion for souls. Touch me again, that I may begin to see men through the eyes of Christ, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking - Mark 8:24.
