WATCH OVER YOUR EYES

Mar 06 2026

Key Text: Job 31:1 KJV - I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

The eye is the window of the soul. What you set your eyes upon controls your thoughts and will eventually determine your action. David set his eyes upon the naked body of Uriah's wife and his thoughts were affected, leading to the sins of immorality and murder. Be careful of what you set your eyes upon to avoid defilement.

If David took his eyes off the naked body of Bathsheba at first sight, he would not have sinned. He looked, and looked, and looked again until he was consumed by the fire of lust. The dirty pictures in the print media, on the television and the internet are there to pollute your thoughts and cause you to commit sin. The virtue of self-control which is a part of the fruit of the Spirit is needed to overcome temptations. But you must be born again to bear the fruit of the Spirit.

God in His infinite wisdom has given us members of the body to help us disconnect from objects of temptation: eye lids to close the eyes, feet to run away and hands to switch off the television set or navigate away from filthy web pages. Please use them to deliver your soul from destruction. The legs of Joseph helped him to escape from the snare of Potiphar’s wife. You must never allow sin to have dominion over you.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to disconnect from objects of temptation, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Reflection: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace - Romans 6:14.
