Key Text: Ecclesiastes 9:16 KJV - Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

Godly wisdom is better than strength and weapons of war. The great king that went against the little city in verse 14 of Ecclesiastes chapter 9, was defeated by the wisdom of a poor wise citizen of that besieged city. With godly wisdom you can defeat the enemy and accomplish great things for your community. They are wise that keep the word of the Lord; although their strength may be little, and no man can shut the open door the Lord has set before them.

Two men of equal abilities were each assigned the task of felling the same size of tree with an axe. One of the men accomplished the task in 10 minutes but it took the other man 3 hours to do the same job. The first man sharpened his axe head but the second man worked with a blunt axe head. One man was wise but the other was foolish. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart - Proverbs 8:5.

You may be struggling with many tasks today due to lack of godly wisdom. Go to the Lord and ask for wisdom. Ten virgins were preparing for the coming of the bridegroom; five of them were wise to take enough oil in their lamps but the others were foolish. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get the wisdom that is found in the Word of God. You cannot overcome by your power and might. May the Spirit of understanding work for you today and always. 

Prayer: O Lord, open my understanding that I might receive godly wisdom to accomplish my daily tasks, in Jesus' name. Amen. 

Reflection: If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct - Ecclesiastes 10:10.
