GRACE SAVES AND TEACHES

Nov 07 2025

Key Text: Titus 2:11-12 KJV - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

The grace of God is unmerited or undeserved favour from God to man. This grace majorly does two things. Firstly, it brings salvation to sinners, translating them from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Then secondly, it teaches believers how to overcome sinful tendencies and to live the life that is acceptable in the kingdom of God. The grace of God is not licentiousness.

What we know as sin in the kingdom of light is the normal course of this world. Although we are still in the world, we are not of the world, therefore ungodliness and worldly desires should be denied. Victory over temptation is possible for the believer who keeps their body under control, and brings it into subjection to the will of God. The first lesson for disciples of Christ is self control or self denial.

The grace of God also teaches believers to live righteously: doing unto others as you would like them to do to you. Except your righteousness shall exceed Pharisaic righteousness (self-righteouness), you shall in no case enter the kingdom of heaven. Finally, the grace of God teaches us to live godly or holy lifestyles. Let others see Jesus in you and come to him for salvation.

Prayer: Thank you Father for your grace. Help me to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Reflection: But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; - 1 Corinthians 15:10.
