Key Text: Jeremiah 45:5a KJV - And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not.
Are you seeking fame, position, wealth and riches, or other great things that life offers? The counsel of the Lord is: seek them not, but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. If your goal in life is to acquire great things at the expense of your soul, you are of all men most miserable - a man to be pitied.
Labour not to be rich, neither labour for the perishable things of this world – Proverbs 23:4, John 6:27: because all the great things that men seek in life will certainly perish with this world. Cease from your own wisdom and follow the wisdom of God. Things are temporary and will not always be there but the kingdom of God is eternal. Invest wisely to qualify for a place in heaven where you will have a better and enduring substance.
Beloved, if there is anything a man should seek, it is the kingdom of God and His righteousness. You should strive to enter the kingdom of God and abide there in righteousness. As additions, the Lord has promised that wealth and riches shall be in the house of the righteous. Go for what matters most - salvation for eternal life. Seek the Lord now while He may be found - Isaiah 55:6.
Prayer: O Lord, help me to give first place to the things of God in my life, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you - Matthew 6:33.
