THE GENUINE CHRISTIAN

Apr 12 2025

Key Text: 1 John 3:18 KJV - My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

You can tell whether someone is a Christian or not by their life: a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Genuine Christians live and walk in the Spirit. They walk circumspectly, not allowing sin and the flesh to have dominion over them. True Christians demonstrate an active life of charity toward others. Are you a true Christian?

The temptation to fulfil the lust of the flesh can only be overcome by following the leading of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law - Galatians 5:22-23. By your fruit, you shall be known. The genuine Christian walks in the Spirit and does not fulfil the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16.

If any aspect of the fruit of the Spirit is missing in your life as a Christian, or you find yourself manifesting any of the works of the flesh, it is a sign that you are not abiding in the Lord - John 15:4. Only those who are connected to the Lord as branches can bear the fruit of the Spirit. Call upon Him today, if you have not known the Lord and He will forgive you and cleanse you from all your sin.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Reflection: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves - James 1:22.
