Key Text: Mark 4:40 KJV - And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
Fear is the absence of faith. And without faith it is impossible to please God. Having said, "Let us pass over unto the other side", Jesus expected His disciples to believe that they would arrive there safely. However, the Lord was disappointed because the disciples manifested fear in the face of a storm instead of trusting that they would get over to the other side. They did not believe that the Lord would do as He had said.
The Lord saved Israel from Egyptian bondage and promised to take them to Canaan, but the majority perished in the wilderness because of unbelief. Have you been saved by grace through faith? The Lord has promised and is able to take you to heaven. There may be problems along the way, but you must not allow them to kill your faith. Repent of the sin of fear, doubt and unbelief which always lead to destruction.
It is impossible for the fearful and unbelieving to live the victorious Christian life – "but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." - Daniel 11:32b. Whereas, king Saul feared Goliath, David killed Goliath because he believed God. Always remember that God is with you and that He is greater than all the challenges that life brings across your way. Fear has torment and must never be entertained.
Prayer: O Lord, help my unbelief and give me victory over the spirit of fear, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: But the fearful, and unbelieving, …. shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death - Revelation 21:8.
