Key Text: Deuteronomy 8:2 KJV - And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
The Lord was watching to see how the children of Israel would react to the temptations that befell them during their wilderness journey. He wanted to know if they truly loved Him. Almost all of them yielded to the temptations and therefore were not approved by the Lord to enter the promised land. Those that were disapproved, all died in the wilderness.
Today, the faith of believers is still being tried and many are unable to stand. You must consider how to respond to every temptation that comes your way because you are being proven for His approval. It is only those that will endure till the end like Joshua and Caleb that will make it to heaven. Don't give up!
Not everyone that says, "Jesus is Lord", is a child of God. As children of God, we must strive to prove, by our lives, what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We must learn from God's word, how to respond to every situation, and how to answer every man. No matter what life throws at you; the Lord will not forsake you. Endeavour to win His approval now that you may receive the crown of life in the end.
Prayer: O Lord, give me the grace to overcome every temptation that comes my way, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him - James 1:12.
