Key Text: Proverbs 9:17 KJV - Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
Many are being deceived to take pleasure in committing secret sin, not knowing that those who have gone before them are already in the depths of hell. Be not deceived, even your evil thoughts are loud enough in the ears of the Lord and they are punishable by Him except you repent. Be warned and endeavour to live your life before the Lord rather than before men.
When you cheat other people or behave inappropriately towards the opposite sex in secret; the Lord sees it. Anything that you will not normally do with them in the presence of your spouse or those you respect should be avoided. You may cover your secret sin from men but you cannot hide it from God. The Lord knows absolutely everything about you. David exclaims in Psalm 139:6 - "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it".
Secret sin may taste sweet but indeed bitter and will eventually bring down the judgment of God upon the sinner, if not repented of. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God - Hebrews 10:31. Since we cannot escape from God, let us avoid sin, for God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil - Ecclesiastes 12:14.
Prayer: O Lord, cleanse me from secret faults and deliver me from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings - Proverbs 5:21.
