REORDER YOUR PRIORITIES

Jan 16 2025

Key Text: Luke 12:21 KJV - So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

The Bible warns us against covetousness but admonishes us to earnestly covet the best spiritual gifts. The value of the soul of a man is not measured by the abundance of his material possessions. What shall it profit you if your purse of money is full and your heart is empty of grace? Everyone who labours to enrich himself with the material things of this life at the expense of his impoverished soul can best be described as a fool.

Many people have misplaced their possessions before their heart and the Lord is warning them to reorder their priorities. The parable of the rich fool in Luke Chapter 12 shows that those seeking things instead of eternal life will suddenly be cut off, unprepared for eternity. Are you seeking great things for yourself? seek them not, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and you shall be given what you need.

People of God, watch over your hearts. Take heed to yourselves, so that you will not be taken unawares at the coming of the Lord. Your bank account may be full, but God approves only those whose hearts are filled with His Word. Therefore, study to hide God's Word in your heart and endeavour to live in obedience to Him.

Prayer: O Lord, while many are striving for things, help me to fill my heart with the word of life, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Reflection: Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom - Proverbs 23:4.
