Key Text: Hebrews 11:25 KJV - Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
The joy derived from the pleasures of sin is transient, yet many are being deceived to go for it instead of the eternal joy that comes with righteousness. Moses made an unpopular choice, although he knew it would cost him the throne of Egypt. He counted the cost of accepting to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter: although it would guarantee temporal enjoyment, the door of heaven would be shut against him.
No man can serve two masters at the same time. You cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils - Matthew 6:24; 1 Corinthians 10:21. You cannot be sleeping with an unmarried partner, smoking, drinking alcohol, lying, clubbing, gambling, or indulging in other sinful pleasures and still be a Christian. You must make the unpopular choice like Moses, if you are serious about making heaven.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? …. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord - 2 Corinthians 6:14-17. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Have you counted the cost of rejecting Jesus Christ?
Prayer: O Lord, deliver me from double mindedness and help me to always choose right, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: Choose you this day whom ye will serve.... Joshua 24:15b.
