The Believer's Fortress

Feb 17 2017

Key Text: Nahum 1:7 KJV - The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

The Lord is a shelter in the time of storm for His people who trust in Him. Talking about the believer, The Lord said in Psalm 91 - "because he has known my name, he shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him". There is no need to worry since God has promised to be with you in your situation. The Lord is your defence and no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper.

Many cry to the Lord in their trouble but He answers only those who call upon Him out of a pure heart. The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe. Just as chicks run to take cover under the wings of their mother when the kite comes to snatch them away, so the believer should always place their trust under the wings of the Lord in the face of danger.

The believer has a hiding place in God: they are graven upon the palms of His hand. There may be occasions when temptation arises for you to go elsewhere in search of protection. At such times always remember that safety and security are guaranteed only for those who remain in the secret place of the most High. Trust in the Lord alone: He is your refuge and your fortress. If you have not known the Lord and want to enjoy this coverage, you must surrender your life to Jesus Christ.

Prayer: O Lord, Let no iniquity have dominion over me, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe - Proverbs 18:10.
