Key Text: Proverbs 9:4 KJV - Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him.
There are only two voices that speak to men, namely the voice of wisdom and the voice of folly. While the voice of wisdom calls men to understanding, reproves scorners, rebukes and instructs the wise, the voice of folly calls men away from the path of life and righteousness. Every believer must therefore, learn how to discern the voice of folly, to avoid ending their pilgrimage in hell.
Firstly, you must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to get saved. Secondly you must continue in the word of God to know the truth. It is the knowledge of the truth that will deliver you from the deceptive voice of folly - John 8:30-32; Proverbs 11:9b. Also, you must be committed to responding to the reproofs of the Lord so that you will be endued with the Holy Spirit and revelation - Proverbs 1:23.
You will notice that the preambles of the invitations from the voices of wisdom and folly in Proverbs 9:4-6 and Proverbs 9:16-17, are exactly the same. Therefore, we must subject whatever we hear audibly or spiritually, to the light of God's word. We all need the help of the Holy Spirit to discern the voice of folly and avoid being deceived. Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh - Galatians 5:16.
Prayer: Father, help me to diligently continue in your word so that I will be exposed to the knowledge of the truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh - Galatians 5:16.
