Key Text: Romans 3:4 KJV - God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Whatever you hear that does not align with the word of God must be treated as a lie. Besides speaking through others, the devil can also manipulate your health condition, imaginations, thoughts, situations and circumstances, against the counsel of God for your life. Always check to know the spirit behind every voice that speaks to you - 1 John 4:1.
The word of God counsels us to be sober and vigilant because the devil, as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour - 1 Peter 5:8. We must be sober to weigh our thoughts and imanginations. We must be vigilant to observe and examine our experiences. Only what comes from God is true. The devil is unrelenting in his attempts to deceive the children of God, and those who believe his lies will lose confidence in God.
We are commanded to resist the devil, steadfast in the faith - 1 Peter 5:9. During his encounter with the devil in the wilderness, Jesus resisted and overcame him through the word of God. Like Jesus, we can also overcome the devil by exercising faith in God's word. Jesus said: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" - John 8:32. Let God be true, but every man (contrary condition, situation, or circumstance) a liar.
Prayer: Father, I believe all that is written in your word concerning me. Help me to discern and resist the lies of the devil, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand - Proverbs 19:21.
