Key Text: Job 34:20 KJV - In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
Since most deaths happen suddenly and in a moment, be sure that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise - Ephesians 5:15. It is only a few people, like one of the thieves on the cross that may have an opportunity to make their ways right with God, just before death. The majority of people die either accidentally or in their sleep, taken away without any warning.
Although, the two thieves crucified with Jesus knew they would die in a short while, one of them failed to prepare for eternity. Nobody has power over the last moments of their lives and yours could be any time from now. We all have a common enemy who is fighting hard to see that we die in sin. And unfortunately, he is succeeding in the lives of many. My dear, if you are not yet saved do not put off your salvation until the last minute.
Now is the moment of salvation, the next minute may be too late. Every day people die accidentally and unprepared, at home, at work, while travelling and in other circumstances. They are cut off suddenly without any chance of making their ways right with God. We should therefore learn to spend every moment of our time with eternity in view. If you have backslidden, make haste and return to the Lord as soon as possible.
Prayer: O Lord, grant me the grace to pay attention to your written word and to live with eternity in view, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave - Job 21:13.
