Key Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
The Lord wants us to make the right choices in life. He commands us to prove all things and to test the spirits by His Word. The written word of God is given to guide us in the right way. Therefore, we should no more be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. He can come as an angel of light: false apostle, false prophet or false teacher; to sift (take away that which is good from) you as wheat. Yield yourself unto the Lord that he may direct your steps in the way that you should go.
Do not be deceived but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as you study His Word. Jesus overcame by the Word and we are commanded to prove all things that we may also overcome by the Word. Always check to ensure that what you are about to do or say agrees with the word of God.
Prayer: Father, give me the knowledge of the truth that I may overcome the spirit of deception, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path - Psalm 119:105.
