Key Text: Hebrews 12:2 KJV - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The journey that leads to heaven is painful but gainful in the end. It is the way of self denial and cross-bearing. Jesus, our example endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him. The Lord of glory went through a painful ordeal on earth to gain His place at the right hand of the throne of God in heaven. He was despised, beaten, wounded, bruised and finally crucified to die a painful death on the cross.
Let not your mind be weary, neither let it faint, for we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of heaven. We strive to live godly because of the hope of heaven, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. Living a holy life can be painful and challenging, but we are encouraged to endure to the end in order to be saved.
Jesus said, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me: to this end Apostle Paul said, I die daily. If you must gain heaven at last, you must endure the pain of dying daily to all forms of opposition. Like Jesus, every heavenly minded believer must empty himself of worldly reputation and cease from fighting for their rights. No cross - no crown; No pain - no gain.
Prayer: O Lord, strengthen me as I strive daily to endure the pain of this heavenly way, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: ... and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God - Acts 14:22.
