CONTINUE IN THE WORD

Jun 25 2023

Key Text: John 8:32 KJV - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

As professing believers we are daily exposed to the temptation to behave differently from what we have learnt from the word of God. But according to the Lord, His true disciples are those who continue in the word of God, come what may. As His sheep they hear His voice and follow Him. We must therefore strive to live our lives as His children, wherever we go.

True disciples of Christ will defend the word of God, any time, any where, by earnestly contending for the faith which was delivered unto them. They study to know the truth which enables them to overcome when tempted by the devil. When He was tempted in the wilderness, Jesus overcame Satan by the word of God, leaving us an example, that we should follow His steps in all things.

The plan of the devil is to deceive believers away from the faith, therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. To continue in God's word, we must read the Bible and pray every day for the grace to do as the Lord commands. Above all, let your life be a shining light that others may see Jesus in you and be attracted to Him.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to follow your steps in all things and at all times, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves - James 1:22.
