Key Text: John 5:7 KJV - The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
The man in our key text was in the same unpleasant situation for thirty-eight long years. He believed that one day someone would be kind enough to help get him into the healing waters at the right time. However, when Jesus came by and asked if he would like to be healed, he failed to see that the Doctor of doctors had come to his help. His trust was not in God but in man.
Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. The Lord wants us to change our mindset and understand that He alone can help us. Let us therefore learn to put our trust in the Lord and allow Him to choose the human vehicle that will convey His help to us. We hinder or delay our blessing unduly when we look unto man instead of Jesus for help.
Beloved, you have an unfailing connection when you are connected to Jesus. There is nothing that is too hard for him to do. Any of the following could happen to that man you are trusting: loss of job, business failure, bankruptcy, sudden sickness, or untimely death. But Jesus is unchanging and without Him you can do nothing, neither can any man help you. If you've not known the Lord, come to Jesus today for the salvation of your soul.
Prayer: O Lord, help me to trust in you alone, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man - Psalm 118:8.
