SUBMITTING TO THE LORD

Jul 29 2022

Key Text: Acts 10:14 KJV - But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

Although Peter recognised the speaker as Lord and Master, yet his response was contradictory. By saying, 'not so, Lord', Peter appears to be saying that he knows better than the Lord. But a slave should obey his Lord without question. Or shouldn't a servant carry out his Master's command without argument? Whatever appears to be the foolishness of God is wiser than men.

In many areas of our lives as believers, we seem to be saying, 'not so, Lord'. We say, Jesus is Lord without yielding unreservedly to Him. Let Him be Lord in all things and always. If you continue to resist God and His Word, His promises will not be fulfilled in your life and ministry. Every committed believer ought to understand that he is a bond servant of the Lord.

The Scripture commands in James 4:7; "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". Many of us try to resist the devil without submitting to God. No wander, God is so far from us. You either submit to God or the devil and the consequences will follow naturally. Remember, the Scripture cannot be broken. When you say, “not so, Lord”, by choosing to do things contrary to His will, you are fighting a lost battle against your Maker.

Prayer: O Lord, forgive my disobedience of the past and grant me the grace to obey you completely, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? - Luke 6:46.
