Key Text: Song of Solomon 2:15 KJV - Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.
The heart of the believer is tender and needs to be constantly watched over to avoid corruption and defilement. When God justifies a man, and makes him righteous at salvation, He also gives him the charge to keep himself pure. Failing in the responsibility to take away the things that have the capacity to defile a man will eventually result in eternal damnation. The believer is therefore expected to eschew evil and to abstain from all appearance of it.
As you walk and work among men there are little things that can attach themselves to you which must be dusted off to remain clean. A little lie, a little anger, a little gossip, a little pride, a little hypocrisy, a little lust, a little inappropriate or immoral behaviour can lead to backsliding and drown your soul in perdition, if not nipped in the bud. Be careful, a little leaven leavens the whole lump - Galatians 5:9.
Little sins have the capacity to spoil your tender heart if left unchecked. So, when they spring up, you must repent as quickly as possible. To keep pure, you must always identify and cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Give no place to little sins in your life before they grow into something else. Every tree that your heavenly Father has not planted in your life is a little fox, and must be uprooted - Matthew 15:13.
Prayer: O Lord, help me to quickly identify and repent of any sin that springs up in my life, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen - 1 John 5:21.
