Key Text: John 10:27 KJV - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
In the natural, a shepherd leads his sheep by voice and they follow him because they know his voice. It is the recognition of the shepherd's voice that keeps the sheep from following strangers. True believers are the sheep of the Lord - The good Shepherd. The Lord Jesus Christ also leads his sheep by voice, and they follow him. Do you hear his voice?
What does it mean to hear the Shepherd's voice? It means to hear the voice of the Lord: this may be audible voice, or still small voice, or the Rhema of His Word. The clear evidence of hearing the Shepherd's voice is following Him, and this can be seen in the way a follower lives his life. A stubborn, self-willed and disobedient person does not have any relationship with the Lord.
We should always be expecting to hear his voice, knowing that the Lord speaks to his children. His voice comes to teach, correct, reprove and instruct believers in the way of righteousness, to make them perfect - 2 Timothy 3:16-17. You can tell whether you are a child of God or not - "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" - Romans 8:14. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.
Prayer: O Lord, I'm living in a very noisy world. Please help me to pay attention to what you are saying, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings - Proverbs 4:20.
