TOUCH NOT HIS ANOINTED

Nov 28 2019

Key Text : 1 Samuel 24:6 KJV - And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.

David was truly a man after God's heart. He feared the LORD and endeavoured to obey His word. The incident in the text above is just one of the many opportunities that David had to kill Saul who was after his life, but he would not. He realised that Saul was the LORD'S anointed and that nobody ever touches such a one and goes scot-free.

Be careful how you treat or talk about genuine anointed men of God. David would not break the Scriptures to defend himself. He knew that killing Saul would fast track his ascension to the throne but he also knew about the dire consequences of touching the LORD'S anointed. Let the LORD himself deal with His erring anointed servants.

If for any reason, a man of God offends you, or does something wrong; please do not revenge or bear tales about them. See what Apostle Paul said when he realised that he spoke evil of the high priest; I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people - Acts 23:5.

Prayer: Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. Please help me to always recognise and honour your anointing upon your ministers, in Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm - Psalm 105:15.
